ABOUT US
Youth of Walsall (also known as YOW) is the youth cabinet group for 11 to 18 year olds in Walsall, set up in 2011 by a group of young people who wanted to make a difference.
We have our say on a variety of issues and topics, take part in local projects, meet key decision makers and represent young people locally, regionally and nationally. We aim to listen to and represent the young people of Walsall, work with young people, youth workers, professionals and practitioners to create partnerships and encourage more young people to join us by representing their area or school and having their voice heard.

We work with Walsall Council, UK Youth Parliament, British Youth Council, the emergency services and local projects, organisations and boards across Walsall.
Previous projects, campaigns and activities have included Activate Against Hate, an anti-bullying debate, our survey “What Do YOW Think?”, Party at the Bandstand and Takeover Day Q&A.
Our flagship knife awareness campaign, Real Knives Real Lives has been recognised by professionals, local groups, elected members and many others. The campaign has also gained media coverage locally.
Our Meetings
We meet every Monday at MyPlace Youth Centre in Bescot, which is a 10 to 15 minutes' drive from the town centre. Our meetings start at 6pm and finish at 8pm. From time to time, we may have extra or extended meetings during the school holidays or outside the regular meetings to work on certain agenda items.

During the meetings, we will have our say on different topics, plan projects and campaigns and much more. We also have visitors who attend our meetings regularly to talk about what they do and how they want to involve young people in their work. Above all, we have fun doing what we love.
