UK Youth Parliament (UKYP) is a nationwide group that campaigns to improve the lives of young people. Members of Youth Parliament (MYP's) are elected to represent the views of young people on a local, regional and national level. Their responsibilities include finding out about the concerns of young people in their area, getting involved in projects and campaigns and working with key decision makers. MYP's also represent their town or city at conventions, the annual conference, at the House of Commons for the debate and at other events.

 

Successes of Walsall UKYP have included a debate about bullying at Walsall Council House in 2015 and former MYP's Namir Chowdhury and Joscel Manirambona have spoken in the House of Commons on Mental Health and Tackling Racism and Religious Discrimination. At the 2017 and 2018 debates, Mariam Sohail has been chosen by the Speaker of the House of Commons to have her say on Work Experience Hubs (2017) and Tackling Homelessness (2018).
