World Mental Health Day

On October 10th 2017, thousands of people participated in World Mental Health Day, a day of encouraging people to raise awareness and to speak out about mental health. As a youth cabinet group, we participated by sharing our own advice and quotes based on what advice we would give if we were concerned about someone's well being. There is no shame in talking about mental health and opening up your feelings. Help and support is available for anyone concerned about their well being or someone else's well being. Be brave, be open, speak out and encourage one another.

We have provided a list of charities that support young people with mental health. It is free to contact the charities listed below and they are all open 24/7.

Childline

The Mix

Free and confidential support for young people under 25.

A safe place for anyone to talk about their concerns - it does not have to be suicidal.

We also found some tips for self care, which is all part of our well being. If you are concerned about your own well being or someone else's, there is help and support available.

Self care tips include staying hydrated, keeping fit, being clean, daily rest, recognition and recharge.
